Nintendo says GameCube sales target within reach

Videogame maker Nintendo said it expects to easily achieve its full-year sales target for its GameCube console after price cuts spurred strong holiday sales.

The Kyoto-based company said holiday sales -- roughly defined as the period from end-November to early January -- rose over 70 percent from a year ago.

Nintendo has targeted sales of six million GameCubes for the business year to March 31.
