NEC offers DVD video recorder with 300GB hard disk

The PK-AX300H, due out in late January 2004 from NEC is the latest DVD recorder that comes with a 300GB hard disk. It can record up to 423 hours of MPEG-2 video (1.2Mbps) on the disk.

The product incorporates image ghost reduction and 3D Y/C separation technologies, storing up to 74 hours of high-quality video (8Mbps). It is also equipped with a newly developed high-speed rate converter engine to reduce time required for bit-rate encoding and recording of video (8Mbps) from the previous two hours to about 50 minutes. The dimensions of the unit is 430x360x77.5mm.

The AX300L, a model with a 160GB drive, will also be available. Both models are open-priced.
