Samsung to begin output of large capacity memory chips

Samsung Electronics announced that it will begin output of 512 megabit and 256 megabit memory chips.

The chips to be manufactured are multimedia cards (MMC) to be installed within wireless handsets, digital cameras, PDAs and MP3 players and come in three types-512MB MMC, 256MB MMC and 256MB MMCs for cellphones.

The company said it made good use of the technology it holds for developing 70 nano 4G NAND (data storage type) flash memory chips, adding it plans to steadfastly maintain its position as the world's biggest memory chip maker.
