The recording industry has started a second round in its
campaign against American music fans by sending a flood of
letters this week threatening them with lawsuits.
"The record companies still aren't listening to their fans,"
said EFF Staff Attorney Wendy Seltzer. "Instead of continuing
their litigation crusade, the record labels should give their
customers the option to pay a reasonable fee to continue
file-sharing."
EFF has urged the recording industry to permit music fans to
use convenient online services for acquiring the music they
love, while finding a way artists can get paid for their
creative efforts.
EFF released today "The Great MP3 Caper" video, which
provides a fun way of telling the serious story of the
recording industry crusade against music filesharers. The
video is available on the EFF website at no charge.
