DVD- RAM to accelerate at 16X by 2005


The Korean LG Electronics gave a press conference at IFA and revealed the future DVD-RAM burning speeds.

After the available present speed of 3X (CLV), the 5X PCAV writing is planed to be achieved by the end of next year. The year of 2005 is expected to bring 16X cav writing for the DVD-RAM format.The writing time for 4.7GB is currently about 40 minutes (inclusive the writing verification process), and will be limited to 10 minutes for 16X writing.
