Sony Music Entertainment to release hybrid CD on September 3rd


Sony Music Entertainment plans to launch the first “hybrid CD” music releases in the beginning of September.

Hybrid CD is a two-layer disc combining one SACD layer recorded by the DSD system, and the usual CD layer recorded by the PCM system. SACD players recognizes and reproduces the SACD layer of the disc, while a normal CD player reads the CD layer of the disc as a usual CD.
