Pioneer, TDK to boost speed of DVD recorders

Pioneer Corp and TDK Corp will jointly develop technology to increase the recording speed of DVD recorders to four to five times normal, from the current double speed, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported Wednesday. The technology will quicken the speed at which TV programs and other content recorded in a machine's hard disk can be copied onto DVDs. Four times the recording speed will enable users to record a 2-hour program in 30 minutes!
