TDK launches DVD+R and DVD+RW for consumers

Following on from its unveiling at CeBIT early this year, TDK has launched its first DVD+RW media (rewritable DVD compatible with the +RW Alliance format). With a capacity of 4.7GB and recording speed of 2.4x, the new DVD+RW disc provides the highest possible quality and compatibility with all available DVD+RW recorders (PC or consumer). In addition to the new DVD+RW, TDK is introducing a 4.7GB capacity DVD+R (write-once DVD) that is compatible with all DVD+R recorders and writers.

Jean-Paul Eekhout, senior marketing manager, said: “With the launch of more and more DVD+R and DVD+RW Writers TDK can again confirm its leadership in the growing optical storage market with the release of DVD+R and DVD+RW media. After having successfully introduced DVD-R and -RW at the end of last year, TDK clearly identified the need amongst its customers for DVD+RW and DVD+R media. As a result TDK have introduced DVD+RW and DVD+R discs that have the highest degree of compatibility with all available DVD+RW and DVD+R recorders.”

The two new DVDs will be available in two appealing packaging styles, a jewel case (available now) and a DVD video case (coming soon).

These new discs will retail at £9.99 for DVD+RW and £5.99 for DVD+R – both of which are available now.
