Sipex introduces industry's fastest photo detector IC for high performance writeable DVD/CD players

Sipex Corporation (Nasdaq: SIPX - News) today announced its most advanced optical device specifically designed to address the demanding needs of the high-end optical disk drive market. This sophisticated device combines very high laser light sensitivity with advanced signal processing to deliver an ideal solution for today's most advanced writeable DVD and CD drives. The SP8126 produces an output voltage relative to the power of the laser light, and by switching at speeds of 300V/us with a settling time of only 7ns the device will allow DVD write speeds up to 8X while protecting the laser from overstress.

"Sipex's innovative photo detectors coupled with our performance driven 10GHz BiCMOS processing and analog design expertise, create unparalleled solutions for our customers," said Kevin Plouse, senior vice president of business development. "The writeable DVD market for consumers is in its infancy and Sipex plans to deliver strategic products that fuel the market's growth."

SP8126 Typical Features and Packaging:

DVD and CD select, to switch between modes of operation 100MHz bandwidth
Differential 2V Output
