TDK announces new DVD-R/RW media with improved protection 100 times improved against dust/scratches!


TDK Japan announced a new series of DVD-R/RW media with improved protection up to 100 times against dust/scratches. TDK said that burned DVD-R media has now the durability of common DVD media. The new media has no big difference in appearance, and TDK claims that even when it rubs against steel wool etc. strongly, a crack or scratche cannot happen very easily!

The new media has the following ID codes:

DVD-R for videotape recording
- DVD-R120HCN (Price 880 yen 1piece)
- DVD-R120HCx5N (Price 3,280 yen 5 pieces)

DVD-RW for videotape recording
- DVD-RW120HCN (Price 1,080 yen 1 piece)
- DVD-RW120HCx5N (Price 4,480 yen 1 piece)

DVD-R for data
- DVD-R47HCN (Price 880 yen 1 piece)
- DVD-R47HCNx5N (Price 3,280 yen 1 piece)

DVD-RW for data
- DVD-RW47HCN (Price 1,080 yen 1 piece)
- DVD-RW47HCNx5N (Price 4,480 yen 1 piece)

- Old type media after rubbing steel/wool

- New type media after rubbing steel/wool
