ASUS Announces New ZenBook and VivoBook Notebooks, Project Precog Future PC Concept and VivoWatch BP Healthcare Wearable at Computex 2018

ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih today hosted a press event at Computex 2018, unveiling all-new products, including ZenBook Pro 15 and ZenBook Pro 14 with the ScreenPad input device, the ZenBook S, a full lineup of VivoBook notebooks, and the VivoWatch BP wearable blood-pressure monitor.

The press event also included a special sneak peek at Project Precog, a new concept device and the first convertible dual-screen notebook equipped with artificial intelligence features.

New VivoBook models include VivoBook S15 (S530) and VivoBook S14 (S430), a pair of lightweight notebooks available in a choice of five colors and several textured finishes. Also announced was VivoBook S13, which features a 13-inch display in a compact 11-inch body and is the first ASUS notebook to feature a four-sided NanoEdge bezel, which enables an 89% screen-to-body ratio for a maximized viewing area. The VivoBook S15, S14 and S13 are exceptionally powered by 8th Generation Intel Core processors.

New ZenBook notebooks include ZenBook Pro 15 (UX580), ZenBook Pro 14 (UX480) and ZenBook S (UX391). ZenBook Pro 15 and ZenBook Pro 14 run Windows 10, are faster than ever and feature ScreenPad, a new way to interact with ZenBook that adapts to the user to provide control. ZenBook Pro 15 is a professional powerhouse with an up to 8th Generation Intel Core i9 processor, GeForce GTX 1050Ti GPU, 1TB PCIe x4 SSD, gigabit speeds with Intel Wireless-AC and Intel Thunderbolt 3 ports. ZenBook Pro 14 delivers performance with an up to 8th Generation Intel Core processor, GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q gaming graphics, 1TB PCIe x4 SSD and storage accelerated by Intel Optane memory. ZenBook S is a 13.3-inch Windows 10 ultraportable notebook that delivers powerful performance and connectivity, and also meets military-grade MIL-STD-810G durability standards.

In addition to all-new notebooks, ASUS also revealed VivoWatch BP, a wearable blood-pressure monitor equipped with ASUS HealthAI technology that analyzes the wearer's blood pressure measurements and daily lifestyle habits to provide recommendations for controlling blood pressure.

With built-in ECG and PPG sensors, VivoWatch BP provides real-time blood pressure measurements in just 15 seconds. It features ASUS HealthAI technology to help users keep track of their blood pressure and health stats - such as heart rate, sleep quality, activity data, and de-stress index - while also providing suggestions for a better lifestyle. Built with medical-grade materials, VivoWatch BP is 70% smaller and 50% lighter than current wrist-mounted blood pressure monitors. In addition, it offers a 28-day battery life.

Project Precog

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are changing the face of computing. ASUS demonstratied Project Precog, a concept of the first convertible, dual-screen notebook with fully enhanced AI features.

Project Precog implements a dual-screen form factor. With a 360° hinge joining the two displays, the PC can be used in four modes - Stand, Book, Tent, and Flat - while providing twice the screen space of traditional notebooks. This form factor gets rid of the traditional physical keyboard and touchpad setup, replacing it with the flexibility to work as either an extended screen or as a customizable interactive interface.

AI Touch automatically recognizes the active input device and changes the virtual interface accordingly. It can automatically adjust the keyboard location depending on where the user places their fingertips, or automatically switch to stylus mode when a stylus touches the lower screen.

With built in Window Cortana and Amazon Alexa, users can get more done with the power of their voice. The dual-screen design of Project Precog lets users keep their main tasks in full view while virtual assistants process other lower-priority tasks on the second screen. The enlarged screen real estate is also freat for apps processing large amounts of data and information, such as the AI-powered Microsoft Office 365. Project Precog supports the Intel Movidius Vision Processor Unit (VPU), and ASUS will encourage developers worldwide to create engaging AI-powered experiences.

VivoBook S15 (S530) and VivoBook S14 (S430)

VivoBook S15 (S530) and S14 (S430) are lightweight notebooks available in five color options - Firmament Green, Star Grey, Silver Blue, Gun Metal and Icicle Gold - and several textured finishes including a woven texture. VivoBook S15 and VivoBook S14 weigh only 1.8kg and 1.4kg respectively, and both notebooks are impressively thin at just 18mm. An ErgoLift hinge raises the keyboard to provide comfortable typing and also improves cooling for better system stability.

VivoBook S15 and S14 are the first notebooks in the VivoBook Series to feature the new three-sided NanoEdge design that has even narrower bezels along the top and sides of the display. This gives VivoBook S15 an 86% screen-to-body ratio, and VivoBook S14 an 84% screen-to-body ratio. VivoBook S15 and VivoBook S14 are powered by up to an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor with NVIDIA GeForce MX150 discrete graphics. Both notebooks feature dual-storage designs, with VivoBook S15 featuring up to a 512GB SSD and 2TB HDD.

The ASUS VivoBook S15 will be available in late June.

VivoBook S13 (S330)

VivoBook S13 is the first ASUS notebook to feature a four-sided NanoEdge display with a 89% screen-to-body ratio. The slim 4.3mm bezel allows VivoBook S13 to fit a 13-inch display into a chassis size of a traditional 11-inch notebook. Even with its compact size, VivoBook S13 delivers performance powered by an up to an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce MX150 discrete graphics.

VivoBook Flip 14 (TP412)

VivoBook Flip 14 (TP412) is a new addition to the VivoBook Flip Series of convertible notebooks, featuring a 360°-flippable display that allows this device to be used in notebook, stand, tent and tablet modes - or anything in between. It is powered by up to an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor with 16GB of memory and features up to a 1TB SSD. VivoBook Flip 14 is also equipped with a touchpad-mounted fingerprint sensor for one-touch login via Window Hello and also supports the ASUS Pen active stylus.

The ASUS VivoBook Flip 14 (TP412) will be available starting in Q3.

The ZenBook Pro Series is a family of high-performance notebooks for professionals that introduces the futuristic new ScreenPad. ScreenPad combines a touchpad with a high-resolution, full-color touchscreen to offer new ways of interacting intelligently with both Windows apps and dedicated programs called ScreenPad Apps. ScreenPad features adaptive functions with context-sensitive tools to enhance workflow and productivity and is fully customizable. Currently supported apps include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and YouTube, with support for other popular apps under development, such as ASUS Sync, which lets users control their phone via ScreenPad.

ZenBook Pro 15 is a professional powerhouse with up to 8th Generation Intel Core i9 hexa-core processor, GeForce GTX 1050Ti GPU, 1TB PCIe x4 SSD, gigabit-class Wi-Fi and Thunderbolt 3 ports. Both models come with the spun-metal finish in Deep Dive Blue and Rose Gold colors.

ZenBook Pro 15 (UX580) with ScreenPad is the first ScreenPad-enabled model in the series, ZenBook Pro 14 (UX480) will launch later in 2018.

ZenBook S (UX391)

ZenBook S (UX391) is a 13.3-inch ultraportable notebook that not only delivers portability, powerful performance and connectivity for discerning on-the-go users, but also is tested to meet military-grade MIL-STD-810G durability standards. With a 12.9mm profile and ultralight 1kg all-metal unibody, the ZenBook S is finished in Deep Dive Blue or Burgundy Red with Rose Gold diamond-cut edges, complete with the Zen-inspired spun-metal finish.

ZenBook S incorporates the new ErgoLift hinge that automatically tilts the keyboard by 5.5°. The raised chassis also improves airflow and enhances audio performance. Powered by 8th Generation Intel Core processors and a PCIe x4 SSD, ZenBook S also features up to a 4K UHD NanoEdge touchscreen, and delivers up to 13.5 hours battery life for all-day performance. For ultrafast connectivity, two of the three USB-C ports support Thunderbolt 3. ZenBook S features Amazon Alexa support for easy voice-controlled assistance.
