LG Electronics expands production lines in China

In an attempt to meet growing demand in China, LG Electronics Inc. has recently doubled its production capacity for optical storage products...

The Korean company said it recently held the opening ceremony for its second optical storage factory in China. The new factory should allow LG to raise the total number of CD-RW and slim compact disc products made per year to more than 43 million units, from the current 24 million units.

LG Electronics holds a 22 percent share of the CD-ROM market and says that it intends to remain the world's No. 1 market leader in the optical storage market.
