Plextor Europe announces PX-W4012TU

Plextor, one of the leading companies for the development and production of CD-ROM drives, CD-Recorders and CD-ReWriters is expanding its range with the PlexWriter 40/12/40U, which writes CD's at 40-speed, rewrites at 12-speed and reads at 40-speed. The PlexWriter 40/12/40U is the ideal instrument for both professional and private users who want to copy CD's, archive large files, or create multimedia productions.

The Retail package contains: PlexWriter 40/12/40U, 5 blank CD-R disks, 1 blank CD-R/W disk, CD-Recording software Nero + InCD (OEM version), Plextor Utility software (PlexTools), manual in 16 languages, 1 USB cable, 1 AC poweradapter.

The firmware is stored in FlashROM which makes it possible to quickly and easily upgrade to the latest version. CD-Text is also completely supported.

With the PlexWriter 40/12/40U, the user has a perfect all-in-one product for backup, duplication and all multimedia applications. CD's can be written, rewritten and read on a single unit, and at the highest possible speed.

Features:
- BURN-Proof, PoweRec-II and VariRec Technology
- High Quality Digital Audio extraction
- Easy Firmware upgrade through FlashROM
- A wide range of CD-R and CD-R/W media support
- The use of a black tray decreases the C1 error rate because the black absorbs some of the OPU’s (Optical Power Unit) laser light which improves writing quality
- The optimised printed circuit board (PCB) reduces internal noise which improves ‘jitter’ and deviation levels to produce higher quality results
- 5 high speed CD-R media in the retail packaging
- Mount Rainier ready
- Selftest function: If problems occur during the write process of a CD, it is sometimes difficult to find the reason. Is it the CD-RW drive, the CD media, the system, ....? On the PlexWriter 40/12/40U, a selftest function is available to verify the status of the CD-RW drive (defective or not).

The PlexWriter 40/12/40U, which includes 5 high speed CD-R disks will be available from June 2002 at a price of 239 EURO ex. VAT
