JOLED Produces First OLED Using Economical Ink-jet Printing Process

JOLED, a Japanese company established by Japan Display, Sony and Panasonic, has shipped high-definition organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels produced with the world's first low-cost "RGB printing method".

JOLED plans to commercialize the ink-jet printing process technology, which is may enable it to produce at a lower cost - around 30-50% cheaper compared to evaporation. Panasonic began researching and developing the specific tech in 2006.

JOLED's new product is a 21.6-inch 4K high-resolution OLED panel. The company says the product has already been selected for use in medical monitors (Sony Imaging Products & Solutions), and JOLED will gradually ship the product for use in a variety of applications.

We also hope to inspire further innovation in the world's OLED panel market through our company's technologies and products."
