Prodisc DVD-RAM media awarded from DVD Forum


"...Prodisc's DVD-RAM 4.7/9.4 /1.46/2.92 GB has been awarded recognition from the Class A Lab of the DVD Forum of May 2001. This means the quality of Prodisc's DVD-RAM has been proven by the highest level of international DVD organization.

Recognition from the DVD Forum's Class A Lab requires the passing of more than 100 strict inspections on the product as well as the manufacturing procedures. At present, there are very few DVD-RAM manufacturers able to meet the standards required by the DVD Forum. Once receiving recognition, manufacturers are permitted to show the DVD logo on products, ads and promotional items. Although the logo can be seen on most DVD-RAM discs in the market, the majority of these are illegal, including the products of some major manufacturers.

It is no doubt that the DVD market will be booming significantly in the year 2001-2002 . However, the quality of the DVD-RAM discs available in the market will vary widely. Compared with CD-R and CD-RW, the technology barrier of DVD-RAM is much higher. Combining groundbreaking technology from Hitachi and advanced production procedures, Prodisc is the only manufacturer in Taiwan able to provide high quality DVD-RAM discs.
