Toshiba Japan announced today the shipping of "SD-C8002" slim-line ATAPI CD-RW drive. It supports 8x writing, 8x re-writing and 24x reading (CD). It's of thickness is 12.7 millimeters and it's access time around 105ms. Of course it supports "BURN-Proof" and possibly will be used OEM in portable PCs.
