Apple begins PowerBook G4/CD-RW promo


"...Apple unveiled a new promotion that provides anyone who buys a new PowerBook G4 with a VST CD-RW drive. According to a new promotion page on Apple's Web site, users who purchase a PowerBook G4 system between now and September 3rd from Apple or an authorized Apple reseller can obtain a free FireWire-based CD-RW burner built by VST via a mail-in rebate. The offer is only good for PowerBook G4s purchased within the US and Canada, and various exclusions apply, so please make sure to read the rules before placing your purchase.

Information on the specific VST model available to people who take advantage of the rebate is scant at this hour, but VST's Web site yields info on a bus-powered external FireWire CD-RW with 4x write speed, 4x rewrite speed, and 20x read speed. VST indicates that the drive includes Adaptec Toast OEM version 4.1, a FireWire cable and manual, and that it works with iTunes and Apple's own Disc Burner software as well..."
