Mr. Magohiro Aramoto, the Corporate Senior Executive Vice President of Sharp Corporation was elected as Vice General Secretary of RWPPI.The 13th RWPPI Regular Meeting was held on June 28, 2002 in Tokyo. The meeting started off with the opening speech made by Dr. Masao Sugimoto, the General Secretary of RWPPI. He thanked all members for their support and cooperation in successfully leading RWPPI operations to its 3rd term year, and expressed his determination to contribute expanding the market.

This was followed by the greetings speech from Mr. Magohiro Aramoto, the Corporate Senior Executive Vice President of Sharp Corporation, the newly elected Vice General Secretary of RWPPI starting this term. By unanimous consent, Dr. Masao Sugimoto was elected once again to serve his 3rd term as the General Secretary, to which he agreed. Right afterwards, the reports from the Hardware and Media Working Groups regarding proposed descriptions on packages and discs were made.

The meeting continued with the proposal of the "Recommended Reference" by the chairman of the Round Robin Tests, and the reports regarding the 2nd Financial Year Results and 3rd Financial Year Budget Plan were made by the RWPPI staff.

Further, the technological presentation and demonstration of the "AV Server - Proposal of Solution (DVD-Recorder with HDD)" was made by Plannet Associate Co., Ltd.

The meeting ended with the special lecture from our prominent guest, Dr. Yoshio Aoki (Optware Corporation - Chairman), with the topic: "Breaking the 1 Terabyte per disc barrier." These technological presentations were extremely interesting and very well received by our members.
