99min Media can be written with existing CDR-W drives?

"...A list of compatible burners will be presented in the next few days. Some burners (like the Mitsumi 4004) can burn up to 99:05 mins without problems, others (like Teac CD-W54 and I think also the PlexWriters) go up to a max of 90 mins. Others stop at 84 mins. Also some audio-CD-Players have Problems, but Joerg Schilling said in a german newsgroup, that his 15 year old Philips could manage a 99 min. CD without any trouble..."

Some additional techical info: The way ATIP is encoded, it is 2 BCD bytes. (BCD = binary coded decimal). The thing is, that the high bit of the MSF in ATIP is a problem. The high bit is used to represent the type of data on that particular ATIP entry. This is why 80 minute media says 79:59 since there is no way to say 80:.

You can write 99min media if the drive can overburn. Even if you overburn, 99 minute media can be unreadable by some drives (HP 8100 for example).."
