Fujifilm Introduces CD Labeler Model 1028

"...The Document Products Division of Fuji Photo Film U.S.A. is today unveiling the new Fujifilm CD Labeler Model 1028, an innovative and inexpensive ink-jet labeler that imprints text, logos, graphics and images on the surface of an optical disc with detail and clarity. Targeted to mid-sized service bureaus and other institutional users that archive microfilmed documents and other data on optical discs, the Fujifilm CD Labeler Model 1028 allows for full-color printing of customized, intricate designs at a speed of approximately one disc per minute (in default 600 x 600 dpi print mode).

As part of a special promotion, Fujifilm is offering a free starter kit for all orders placed between now and September 30, 2000. The kit includes a spindle pack of 50 Fujifilm CD-Rs, 50 jewel cases with white trays and an extra Fuji CD Labeler Model 1028 toner cartridge. The labeler can be purchased from authorized Fujifilm Document Products dealers or through the company Web site at http://www.fujifilm.com.

Compatible with Windows 95/98 and Windows NT operating systems, the CD Labeler Model 1028 can print on the ink-jet compatible surfaces of CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD, DVD-ROM and DVD-R discs. In addition to the 600 x 600 dpi print mode, it offers print resolutions of 1200 x 1200 dpi and 600 x 300 driver selectable, which means that the resolution can be selected via the software. The images are produced by 3-color (CMY) and black monochrome (K) ink types. It also features variable print speeds depending upon the percentage of coverage and print mode. Although the images print on many brands of optical discs, Fujifilm's printable surface CD-Rs are highly recommended because they dry quickly and provide a surface that is highly resistant to smearing.

The Fujifilm CD Labeler Model 1028 measures 7.5-inches high x 10.5-inches wide x 10.5-inches deep and weighs 8.5lbs. It has an estimated list price of $1,495..."
