IBM adds support for DVD in OS/2 Warp


"..As Sm@rt Reseller reported in February IBM quietly decided to release a refresh of the OS/2 Warp 4 client. While it refused to comment a few months ago, today IBM made a software announcement--with no fanfare or press releases--to announce the new client, promising delivery in November 2000.

According to the announcement, IBM will provide annual refreshes of OS/2 Warp 4 and OS/2 Warp Server for e-business components through its Software Choice subscription service. While the first "Convenience Package" will remain a uniprocessor kernel and lacks JFS support, it will include the latest device drivers, DVD and USB support, and Java Version 1.1.8.."
