Pioneer announces DVD-R spring promotion

"..Pioneer Europe announced a new DVD-R promotional campaign to commence from 13 March 2000 until the end of April 2000. The world's only DVD-R drive (DVR-S201) will during this period be offered at a promotional price and will include seven pieces of blank DVD-R media. In addition Pioneer has also included DVD-R writing software (30-day trial versions) from Gear Software and Smart Storage. The included software along with the blank media increases the end-user's immediate productivity and lowers the cost of entering DVD-R production.

The DVD Forum, where Pioneer is chairing working group six (DVD-R) has approved DVD-R as a worldwide standard for write-once DVD. This format is ideal for creating DVD content (authoring) or permanent mass storage archiving. Currently DVD-R specification 1.9 is agreed. Version 2.0 is expected to be ratified within CQ3 this year.."
