Rimage Teams With Liquid Audio to Supply CD-R Publishing Systems for In-Store Digital Music Kiosks

"..Rimage Corporation and Liquid Audio announced that Rimage will provide the CD-Recordable (CD-R) technology for Liquid Audio's on-demand audio CD kiosks at the Arcadia Group's TopShop/TopMan stores in the United Kingdom. The kiosks will allow TopShop/TopMan customers to preview and purchase music and create custom compilation CDs from digital music kiosks right in the store. The kiosks will be launched this Spring at the retailer's flagship Oxford Circus store in London and expanded to other locations later this year.

Rimage has provided Liquid Audio with similar CD-R publishing technology for "The Music Company," a cyber-cafe in Seoul, Korea, where customers can preview, purchase, download and record custom compilation audio CDs. Rimage's CD-R publishing systems can simultaneously and automatically record multiple CDs, each with different, customized content. The Rimage publishing systems also automatically print customized, full-color labels on each CD using proprietary Rimage Perfect Print® technology.

On-demand audio kiosks save retailers capital and space because CDs are created only when they are ordered by a customer. By tapping into a virtual, digital inventory, kiosks allow retailers to offer consumers an extensive and broad collection of titles without needing to purchase or stock a physical inventory of CDs.
