HTC To Launch New 'Selfie' Phone

Taiwan's HTC plans to release new devices in the second half of this year, including a new "selfie phone" codenamed "Eye," according to report.

"Eye" will be launched in the United States in the fourth quarter, according to a report published Friday on technology news website eprice.com.

In addition, the HTC Butterfly 2, an Android-based, 4G LTE-capable smartphone, has been certified in Japan, and the international version of the HTC Butterfly 2 has received VISA certification for contactless NFC payments, indicating that the device will be launched soon, acccording to the report.

In addition, the company's flagship HTC One (M8) will be officially released in China following a certification by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

HTC is also rumored to launch its first handset compatible with the Windows Phone 8S operating system, the HTC W8, in the third quarter of this year.
