Chinese Huawei officially announced today in Beijing the Kirin 920, an 8-core SoC based on ARM's big.LITTLE architecture. The Soc supports TD-LTE/LTE FDD / TD-SCDMA / WCDMA / GSM connectivity and it is the first to offer LTE Cat6 speeds, up to 300Mbps.

The 28nm chipset is made up of four Cortex-A15 cores with frequencies between 1.7 and 2.0 GHz, coupled with four Cortex-A7 cores that can run at clock speeds of 1.3-1.6 GHz. A Mali-T628 graphics chip is also on board to support resolutions as high as 2560x1600 pixels, and the complete package is going to offer support for LTE Cat 6, SGLTE / CSFB, as well as VoLTE.

The Kirin920 also integrates an IntelliSense I3 low-power processor when gathering data from accelerometer, gyroscope or compass sensors.

The chip is likely to be used in Huawei upcoming flagship smartphone codenamed 'Mulan.'
