Google Glass Available April 15

If you have $1,500+ to spend and you live in the U.S. you'll be able to get Google's controversial Internet-linked Glass eyewear by April 15.

So next Tuesday at 6am PDT, Google is opening up some spots in its Glass Explorer Program. Any adult in the US can become an Explorer by visiting Google's site and purchasing Glass for $1500 + tax. Google says the number of spots available is limited, so mark your calendar if you want to get in.

Google in March said it is joining forces with Luxottica to create and sell Glass Internet-linked eyewear in the United States. Luxottica brands include Oakley, Alain Mikli, Ray-Ban, and Vogue-Eyewear.

The first smart glasses by Luxottica for Google Glass will go on sale in 2015, the head of the Italian eyewear group said Tuesday.

Glass connects to the Internet using Wi-Fi hot spots or by being wirelessly tethered to mobile phones. Pictures or video are may be shared through the Google Plus social network.
