Pioneer BDR-S09J BD drive Launches In Japan

Pioneer will release later this month in Japan the BDR-S09J-BK, a 16x Blu-ray disc burner optimized to be faster during reading, writing and accessing your discs.

Compatible with WIndows 8.1, the BDR-S09J-BK is an internal (SATA) BDXL burner that supports a max. 16x burning speed with BD-R SL/, 14x with BD-R DL, 8x with BD-R R TL and 6x with BD-R QL. DVDs burn at speeds of up to 16x, and CDs 40x.

Compared to Pioneer's previous models the drive is 20% faster during disc set-up and the duration of the read and verify function after recording a disc is 10 minutes shorter than before. In case you want to improve the appearence of your BD-Rs, the drive supports the Recording Surface Sensitive Mode, which minimizes the uneven appearance of the recording surface of the disc. This is a function mainly for burning discs for distribution, and the BDR-S09J-BK will finish the task 30% faster than before.

In addition, the drive supports Pioneer's PureRead3 + technology for accurate audio CD playback and a Video & Audio mode" for quiet playback of audio CDs of movies.

The BDR-S09J-BK is bundled with Cyberlink's disc authoring/playback software and will retail in Japan for about 20,000 yen ($196).
