Lenovo at CES 2014

This week at CES, Lenovo is announcing several new Windows devices -ranging from new Tablets and ThinkPads to new All-in-One PCs, the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon ultrabook and the ThinkVision Pro2840m, Ultimate Professional 4K Display.

New Lenovo MIIX 2 models:

Lenovo has an 8-inch MIIX 2 model available today but in recognizing that one design doesn't fit all, they are announcing 10-inch and 11-inch MIIX 2 models today. The MIIX 2 has the ability to connect to a detachable keyboard from Lenovo to be used in "Laptop Mode". However, you can use it only as a tablet whenever you need to or use it in "Stand Mode" to watch movies or view photos.

The 10-inch MIIX 2 focuses on mobility: it weighs only 1.3 lbs. and is only 0.36-inches thick. It comes with a new 64-bit enabled quad-core Intel Atom processor, a full HD 1920x1200 10-point touchscreen display, Wi-Fi (and optional 3G), JBL surround speakers for great sounding audio, up to 128GB of eMMC storage and a microSD slot for adding up to 32GB of storage . The 10-inch MIIX 2 also comes with a 720p high resolution 2 megapixel front and 5 megapixel rear cameras. And it has all day battery life.

The 11-inch MIIX 2 focuses on performance offer up to a 4th generation Intel Core i5 processor, greater storage with up to 256GB of fast SSD storage and a full HD 1920x1200 IPS wide-view display. The 11-inch MIIX 2 comes with many of the same features of 10-inch model and Windows 8.1.

Both models come in the Silver Grey color and have a mini HDMI port to display content on larger screens, an SD card reader, micro USB port and microSD cards along with USB 2.0 support on the keyboard. The 10-inch MIIX 2 will start at $499 (U.S.) and the 11-inch MIIX 2 will start at $699 (U.S.). The 10-in model will be available beginning in March. The 11-in model will be available starting in April.

New Lenovo X1 Carbon:

Lenovo is announcing the new X1 Carbon 14-inch Ultrabook today. The X1 Carbon is designed with Carbon Fiber - the same material used on aircraft and cars. It weighs less than magnesium and aluminum but is stronger than both. The X1 Carbon only weighs 2.8 lbs. - it's strong AND light. The new X1 Carbon comes with an improved display (with touch) giving brighter images at higher resolutions and better viewing angles. It also comes with Lenovo's Rapid Charge technology that allows you to get an 80% charge of the battery in under an hour. And the new X1 Carbon has an over 70% improvement on battery life over the previous model with up to 9 hours. Finally, the new X1 Carbon also introduces an improved docking experience with Lenovo's OneLink connector that brings power, gigabit Ethernet, and dual display support all through a single cable. Models of the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon will start at $1,299 (U.S.) and availability will begin late January.

Lenovo ThinkPad 8:

The ThinkPad 8 is a new 8-inch business tablet constructed of machine-cut aluminum. The ThinkPad 8 has 3 modes: "Tablet Mode" for on the go, "Desktop Mode" while connected to an optional keyboard base, dock or monitor, or in "Tent Mode" with its optional Quickshot Cover over the tablet. The ThinkPad 8 has an 8.3-inch 1920x1200 display and comes with the latest Intel Atom quad core processor, up to 128GB of storage, a microUSB 3.0 port, LTE connectivity, and Windows 8.1 Pro. The ThinkPad 8 convertible tablet will be available as configure-to-order models starting at $399 (U.S.) and at retailers starting at $429 (U.S.) in late January.

Lenovo Y and Z Series laptops:

The new 14-inch Y40 and 15.6-inch Y50 laptops come encased in a black shell and offer several options. The Y50 has an optional backlit keyboard for example and offers up to an Ultra HD 3840x2160 display or full HD 1920x1080 display with optional touch. The Y40 features a full HD display. The Y Series laptops come powered by up to a 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, an HDD or SSD, optional AMD Radeon on the Y40 and NVIDIA GeForce on the Y50, and Windows 8.1.
