Nokia Set To Announce New Camera Phone

Nokia will make an official announcement on July 11, according to a press invitation sent out on Thursday, where the company is expected to launch a new flagship camera phone.

An e-mailed press invitation to the event in New York featured the phrase "ZOOM. REINVENTED". The new device (Nokia PureView) is expected to combine the features of a smartphone with those of a high-end digital camera, equipped with a 41-megapixel photographic sensor.

Nokia has launched new phones in various price segments over the past month after first-quarter results showed a drop in lower-end handset sales.

Earlier this week Samsung also announced the GALAXY S4 Zoom, a smartphone equpped with a high-end camera with a 10x optical zoom.
