Microsoft To Hold Xbox Reveal Event on May 21

Microsoft will unveil the highly-anticipated next-generation Xbox on May 21 following months of speculation the company would announce a new video game console this summer.

The company sent out media invitations on Wednesday for the event, which will be held at its Xbox campus in Redmond, Washington.

"On Tuesday May 21st, we?ll mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment," Microsoft's major Nelson wrote in a blog post. "On that day, we?ll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future," he added.

19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, Microsoft will showcase its full lineup of blockbuster games.

The Xbox 360 is the market-leading console that has an installed user base of 76 million.
