Samsung Introduces the New REX Series Phones

Samsung aims to evolve mobile communications in emerging markets through thenew REX series of easily accessible smart feature phones.

The Samsung REX series consists of four devices: REX 90, REX 80, REX 70, and REX 60. Each device has been tailored to give users access to a variety of features that have been developed to enhance their day-to-day needs at an affordable budget. Merging functionality and usability, the REX series delivers practical solutions to complement daily mobile needs. Its QVGA touch-screen user interface with intelligent features is designed to deliver a simpler user experience for those who value the essentials.

Other features include a user-friendly Touchwiz interface for easy navigation of the mobile phone. Menu choices are organized into icons arranged 4x4 on the large display for easy viewing. Access to social networking services is just a click away, and widgets offer easy access to weather and other frequently-used applications.

The REX series also feature a curved design for convenient one-hand operation, a brushed metal frame and delicate back cover.

Users who want to keep their personal and work calls separate will enjoy the convenience of Dual SIM on the Samsung REX series, offering the functionality of having two phones with just one mobile unit. To ensure no calls are missed, Dual SIM Always On allows users to receive calls on one SIM even when they are on the phone using the other. The Samsung REX series allows users to switch between a maximum of five SIM cards without rebooting their mobile.

The Samsung REX series are also equipped with the Opera Mini web browser.

The REX 90 is the biggest of the four with a 3.5-inch screen and a 3.2-megapixel camera. The REX 80 and 70 both have 3-inch screens, but the latter model has a 2-megapixel camera instead of one with 3.2 megapixels. The REX 60 is the smallest of the newcomers with its 2.8-inch screen and a 1.3-megapixel camera.

Pricing and availability wasn't announced.

Earlier this week, Nokia and LG Electronics also announced new dual-SIM phones, which Samsung will compete with.
