ASUS Releases MeMO Pad Smart 10.1-inch Tablet, RT-N14U Router

ASUS today officially announced MeMO Pad Smart, a 10.1-inch Android 4.1 tablet with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor with an MSRP of just US$299. The company also unveiled the stylish RT-N14U wireless N300 router, priced at US$70.

The MeMO Pad Smart is the first 10.1-inch tablet in the new ASUS MeMO Pad range and joins the recently launched 7-inch MeMO Pad. ASUS also announced the Folio Key, an optional wrap-around cover for the MeMO Pad Smart that incorporates a Bluetooth keyboard.

Pronounced "meemo", MeMO stands for "My Mobile. My Moment". It features a 10.1-inch display with 1280 x 800 HD resolution and 10-point multi-touch. IPS technology gives 170-degree wide viewing angles and 350 nits of brightness.

The tablet features ASUS SonicMaster technology along with stereo speakers with 25x12mm metallic drivers. Just 9.9mm thick and weighing 580g, MeMO Pad Smart ispowered by the NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor for smooth performance with Android 4.1, and has up to 8.5 hours' battery life measured under power saving mode, playing 720p video, with a brightness of 60nits and default volume with headphones.

16GB of onboard storage can be expanded via the SDHC card slot to give high capacity for apps, movies and music, while the rear 5-megcan be used for video chat.

ASUS MeMO Pad Smart is powered by Android 4.1 and comes with a number of ASUS apps. With SuperNote Lite, users can read, type, and scribble anytime and anywhere; while WebStorage Office makes it easy to view, edit and create Microsoft Office-compatible documents. Apps can also be password-protected with App Locker and App Backup creates back-ups of installed ups on internal storage or an SD card.

ASUS also today announced the RT-N14U wireless N300 router, priced at US$70. The RT-N14U is capable of 300Mbit/s 802.11n Wi-Fi and supports the ASUS AiCloud platform. Using ASUS AiCloud, users can sync, share, stream, and access content from wherever an internet connection is available.

The RT-N14U features a USB 2.0 port to enable plug-n-play connections with 3G/4G adapters, external storage, and printers. It can act as a printer and FTP server as well as a cellular network failover backup for LAN and WAN connections. ASUS software features include the ASUSWRT interface for 30-second setup and easy network management, Download Master remote-managed downloads, parental controls, and guest access.

ASUS AiCloud offers cloud access with a host of features while maintaining security and privacy. Users can sync, share, stream, and access content located on connected USB storage from any location, using the RT-N14U as their home cloud server. ASUS AiCloud is compatible with iOS, Android, and Windows PC. It merges with the ASUS WebStorage service and offers link-based sharing. Users can send a link for other users to download shared content from, which is much faster than navigating a public cloud interface. This can be done via email, SMS, or popular applications such as WhatsApp and LINE.

The ASUSWRT interface allows 30-second setup and also offers one-click QoS (quality of service) bandwidth optimization based on connection type, number of networked devices, and applications being run. The RT-N14U package also includes Download Master with support for downloading directly to router-attached USB storage so downloads continue even with the destination PC shut down. Remote download management is also available, and the ASUSWRT interface includes detailed guest access controls to help customers share connections with greater security and ease of use.

The RT-N14U features internal antennas and supports horizontal and vertical placement thanks to the bundled stand.
