CyberLink today launched an updated version of its media player, PowerDVD 12, along with new PowerDVD Mobile to ensure compatibility with Microsoft's upcoming Windows 8 operating system.
Microsoft has removed native support for DVD playback in the Windows Media Player found on Windows 8 OS. As a result, consumers will require additional media playback software such as the PowerDVD 12 to play DVDs and MPEG-2 files on their Windows 8 PCs.
CyberLink also launched a new mobile application designed for Windows 8 tablets. PowerDVD Mobile brings the playback features of CyberLink PowerDVD to Windows 8 mobile devices .
Cyberlink will offer users purchasing PowerDVD 12 during the launch of Windows 8 bonus copies of PowerDVD Mobile and the photography workflow software, PhotoDirector.
