British Judge Says HTC Does Not Infringe Apple Patents

HTC Thursday won a victory over rival Apple after a British court said the Taiwanese company did t infringe on a patent owned by Apple.

The high court in London Wednesday found HTC did not infringe on Apple's photo management patent. The court also deemed invalid three other Apple patents related to the slide-to-unlock, the multi-touch and multilingual keyboard capabilities of smartphones.

"HTC is pleased with the ruling, which provides further confirmation that Apple's claims against HTC are without merit," the company said in a statement.

"We remain disappointed that Apple continues to favour competition in the courtroom over competition in the marketplace."
