Apple Wants To Ban Revamped Samsung Galaxy Tablet in Germany

Apple has appealed a Dusseldorf court ruling that had upheld the ban of Samsung's Galaxy Tab tablet PC in Germany.

A Dusseldorf court will hear Apple appeal in June 5.

D?sseldorf's regional court decided last year that the design of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 is too close to an Apple registered design, and banned sales of the device. Samsung appealed the decision, but in January the higher regional court in D?sseldorf upheld the ban.

Meanwhile, Samsung had altered the design of its tablet to circumvent the injunction. The reworked Galaxy Tab 10.1N features a modified metal frame of the 10-inch tablet computer and the location of the speakers.

Now Apple is trying to ban sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1N too, but a judge at the regional court in D?sseldorf ruled in February that its design was sufficiently different. Apple will seek to overturned that ruling at the hearing.

Munich Regional Court in February also ruled that Samsung is allowed to keep selling the 10.1N in Germany.
