RIAA Caught Downloading Torrents

Users within the IP address range of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) have been reportedly using BitTorrent to download copyrighted material.

The website YouHaveDownloaded, which tracks public fingerprints of approximately 20 percent of the world's BitTorrent traffic, exposed that IPs of RIAA were used to share copyrighted material. According to the website TorrentFreak, files downloaded include the complete albums of Jay-Z's "American Gangster" and Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy," as well as seasons one through five of the TV show Dexter, an HD version of a Law and Order: SVU episode, and two different audio apps.

"All in all, quite an astonishing revelation for an outfit that wants to disconnect copyright infringers from the Internet, " TorrentFreak commented.

TorrentFreak also reporetd that "there are BitTorrent pirates" at Sony, Universal and Fox. A few days earlier it was revealed that torrents are being downloaded in the palace of French President Nicholas Sarkozy.

RIAA has not commented on the story.
