Pioneer Introduces New Portable 4x BDXL Burner


Pioneer is applying its technological expertise in the optical storage field to the new BDR-XD04J, a fast and lightweight external BDXL burner.

The portable drive (133 mm x 14.8 mm x 133 mm , 240g) supports burning of BDXL discs at 4x (BD-R TL and BD-R QL), BD-RE TL/QL at 2x, and BD-R SL and DL at 6x. The drive is also capable of writing on BD-R LtH (4X), BD-RE SL /DL at 2x, DVD recordables (SL) at 8X max, DVD recordables (DL) at 8x, DVD-RW at 6X, DVD+RW at 8X, DVD-RAM at 5X and CD-R/RW at 24x and Cd-RW at 24X.

The maximum reading speeds for BD-ROM SL/DL is 6x, 8x for DVD-ROM SL/DL and 24x for CDs.

Other features include a 4MB buffer as well as Pinoneer's PureRead 2 technology for accurate reading of scratched audio CDs.



The drive can be powered by its USB 2.0 intefrace or by an external AC power adapter (sold separately).

The drive will be released next month on Japan for about ¥18,000 ($231).
