AMD To Release New Platforms for Low-power Mobile Products


AMD's "Deccan" and "Kerala" platforms for ultrabooks are expected to be the company's "weapons" against Intel's "Ivy Bridge" and "Haswell" platforms, coming n 2012 and 2013, respectively.

In 2012, AMD plans to replace the Brazos platform with the "Deccan", which features the 28nm Krishna and Wichita-based Fusion APUs (1-4 enhanced "Bobcat" CPU cores, DX11 capable GPU). The upgrade of "Decan" is the "kerala" featuring Kabini-based APUs.

For the traditional notebook market, AMD is set for the 2012 launch the "Comal" platform, featuring Trinity-based APUs (2-4 next-gen "Buldozer" CPU cores, DX11 capable GPU) and the "Indus" platform in 2013 using Kaveri-based APUs.



For the tablet PC market, AMD is expcted to push the Brazos platform with Windows operating system to target the enterprise market in 2011. In the second quarter of 2012, AMD will launch the "Brazos T" platform that features "Hondo" APUs. In 2013, the company is expected to release the "Samara" platform.
