Samsung SSD 830 Series Released


Samsung announced this morning in Korea its new SSD 830 Series with capacities ranging up to 512GB.

The SATA III drives feature a sequential reading speed of 520MB/s and a equential writing speed of 400MB/s. According to Samsung, compared to the company's 470 series of SSDs, the new 830 Series are faster by 2.5x in terms of random reading speed (up to 80,000 IOPS).

The SSDs are based on Samsung's 20-nanometer NAND flash, feature wear-leveling techniques and garbage collection techniques as well as a 3-core ARM9-based MCX controller, and massive 256MB DDR2 DRAM memory - all designed and manufactured by Samsung.

The Samsung SSD 830 will be available to consumers wordlwide this month.
