Zynga Acquires Toronto-Based Five Mobile Team

Zynga today announced a new addition to the Zynga family, the Toronto-based Five Mobile team. In addition to the team, Zynga is also acquiring certain assets and Intellectual Property developed by Five Mobile.

Five Mobile, now Zynga Toronto, creates mobile applications. The team has worked closely with some of the largest media and technology companies in North America across a multitude of platforms and handsets.

"As a key component of our mobile efforts moving forward, Zynga Toronto will help position us in a hotbed of mobile development talent," Synga said in a blog post.

Zynga is a top social games publisher on Facebook. The company's main revenue generator comes from selling virtual items in games on PCs. It has taken steps to reduce its reliance on Facebook in recent months by acquiring companies focused on mobile games so it can come out with more games users can play on smartphones and tablets.
