Apple Recalls Some Verizon iPads

Apple has halted the delivery and it is recalling a small number of iPad 2s designed to work on the Verizon Wireless network because of a manufacturing glitch.

The shipments were halted because some of the iPads carried identity codes already in use on other Apple products, which could cause problems on Verizon's network, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Reuters confirmed the issue and reported that the problem was related to duplicate MEID codes (mobile equipment identifier), which were flashed onto a small number of iPad units for the Verizon 3G network.

MEID is a unique number that is used to identify a mobile device when it connects to the network. Two devices cannot have the same MEIDcode.
