Acer to Launch New ICONIA Tablets and Smartphones

Acer is steering towards usage models and form factors that fit better into an on-the-go lifestyle. The company uneilled details about its upcoming ICONIA Tab W500, ICONIA TAB A500, ICONIA TAB A100 tablets as well as the ICONIA SMART phone.

Acer ICONIA Tab W500

Acer's ICONIA TAB W500 combines the best of two worlds: tablet and PC.

The device is a 10.1-inch multi-touch screen tablet that is complemented by a full-size chiclet docking keyboard featuring the Acer FineTrack pointing device with two buttons for convenient navigation. It also has a high-resolution screen and Dolby optimized audio, an Ethernet port and a USB port for external devices.

The Acer ICONIA TAB W500 also features the Acer Ring. Easy to launch with a simple grab gesture, it offers immediate access to all the special features and touch application pre-loaded on Acer ICONIA TAB W500. Utilities in the Acer Ring include Clean Disk, to manage and optimize disk space; Snipping Tool, to quickly select, tag and clip screen images; Device Control, to fine tune the tablet settings; Camera, to launch Acer Crystal Eye Webcam (1.3MP); Calculator and Game, to reach the games stored on Acer ICONIA TAB W500.

The Acer Ring also features a series of AppCards to browse through and launch touch applications:

* TouchBrowser lets you search, open, resize, select content from the web with the tips of your fingers.
* SocialJogger
* My Journal, where you can collect web clips that are dynamically updated to keep you posted on any news in the websites you find interesting.
* to search, share, and playback favourite music, photo, and video.

Acer is Acer media sharing system that lets you enjoy your multimedia content across your home. Thanks to and the HDMI port your can stream the multimedia stored on Acer ICONIA TAB W500 on any of the devices connected to your home network and enabled.

Running on Windows 7 OS, Acer ICONIA TAB is equipped with AMD C-50 processor and AMD Radeon HD6250 graphics. Connectivity options including Wi-Fi, 3G (on selected models) or Bluetooth 3.0.

The new Acer ICONIA TAB A500 is a 10.1-inch multi-touch multimedia tablet. It runs on Google Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" operating system and features the Acer media sharing system, a built-in HDMI port, 1080p output a 5MP rear-facing camera plus HD front-facing camera.

One of the tablet?s most important features is its ability to run and play HD arcade games and complex online 3D games, thanks to the multi-touch screen and gyro meter control.

The Acer ICONIA TAB A500 will be equipped with the dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile dual core CPU. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, 3G or Bluetooth 2.1.

The Acer ICONIA TAB A500 will be available in April.


Acer also announced the 7" (1024x600) Acer ICONIA TAB A100 tablet, which is also based on Android 3.0 OS. On the home page, resources are grouped into four main content usages, within reach of your fingertips:

1. Games Zone: here you can find a variety of preloaded games - online 3D, console and casual.
2. eReading, where you can find the tools you need to download or read magazines and books. Magazines with Zinio, books with Nook and LumiRead.
3. Multimedia groups all the apps you need to enjoy music, videos and photos.
4. SNS brings your social life together. You can find the links to Facebook, Twitter, but also Acer SocialJogger that lets you check, post and update all of your accounts at a glance.

Also pre-loaded on the Acer ICONIA TAB is, the Acer media sharing system.

The device will be powered the dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile dual core CPU. Audio is powered by the Dolby Mobile technology , a 5MP auto-focus rear camera allows you to upload photes them to social networks while a a 2MP front-facing camera to engage in live chat.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, 3G or Bluetooth 2.1. The device also comes with a built-in HDMI port and 1080p output, a full-size and a mini USB.

Acer beTouch E210 phone

Acer also added a new model to its beTouch range, the Acer beTouch E210.

The compact smartphone combines a 2.6" touchscreen, a Full QWERTY keyboard and an optical trackpad with the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

The device has been designed to allow users to check their personal or office mails in push mode, chat with friends on instant messaging via Google Talk or send SMS/MMS presented in IM-like conversational style. The "Share" button immediately shares status, places, web links, news, pictures, videos on Facebook, Twitter, or Youtube accounts.

An Android browser allows users to view all web pages acessed via HSDPA/WiFi.

The beTouch E210 also integrates GPS and Bluetooth 2.1, a 3.2 megapixel digital camera and an FM Radio with RDS. It is powered by a 1300 mAh battery.


The Acer ICONIA SMART combines the capabilities of a tablet in a smartphone format: a 4.8" widescreen with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a super cool chassis.

Its design, characterized by a stretched out, thin and slightly curved shape, makes it a fascinating device.

The front is entirely dominated by the multi-touch, high resolution 4.8" screen (1024x480), with 4 keys: Home, Search, Back, and Menu. While on the back there is an 8MP camera with LED Flash. It?s equipped with the latest release of the Google operating system, Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

This latest Android smartphone comes preloaded with an Android browser, which supports Java script optimization, Adobe Flash Player 10.1 and multiple page opening.

Connectivity options include HSDPA @ 14.4 and WiFi N for data connection, as well as Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.

Dolby Mobile technology is responsible for the sound and thanks to DLNA technology or the HDMI cable, you can connect it to your TV to view your content on an even bigger screen.

Inside Acer ICONIA SMART beats the 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a 6-axis motion sensing (Gyroscope + accelerometer) for gaming.

Last but not least, Acer announced the Acer liquidmini packs maximum smartphone.

Small, compact and stylish, liquidmini is available in a wide range of colors.

The Android Froyo smartphone sports a 3.2" multi-touch display and features the Acer UI, offering easy access to wireless options, music player and sound profiles. The liquidmini also comes with the Google suite of applications including Gmail, Google Maps, Google Navigation and Google Talk.

Other featues include an expandable memory card slot; a radio tuner; a 5 megapixels camera, one-click sharing gto uploading pictures and movies to Facebook, YouTube and Flickr and Acer?s SocialJogger app, which integrates Facebook and Twitter accounts into a single feed.

The DocumentsToGo and RoadSync apps allow users to view and edit office files (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and PDF) and send them through their work email with support for Microsoft Exchange.

The liquidmini is also DLNA certified.
