Verizon Releases LG COSMOS Touch, LG Vortex


Verizon Wireless and LG Mobile Phones today announced LG Cosmos Touch and the LG Vortex smartphones will be available in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores on Nov. 18.

LG Cosmos Touch

The second generation of the LG Cosmos, LG Cosmos Touch is a stylish device with a touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Key features:

- 2.8" WQVGA touchscreen
- 4-line QWERTY keyboard
- Bluetooth 2.1 capabilities with support for the following profiles: headset, hands-free, object push for vCard and vCalendar, stereo, file transfer, phonebook access, message access
- microSD Memory Slot for up to 16 GB of memory

Additional features:

- 3 home screens with 7 customizable shortcuts or widgets
- Flash user interface for clear images and fun animations
- Voice commands
- VZ Navigator capable - Receive audible turn-by-turn directions to millions of points of interest and share the directions with others
- Media Center - Access downloadable games, ringtones, wallpapers, location-based services and more
- Full suite of messaging options, including text, picture, video and voice messaging; Mobile IM; Social Beat; and Mobile Web Email

- 1.3-megapixel camera that includes:

o Three different camera resolutions
o Zoom up to 2 times

The LG Cosmos Touch will be $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. Verizon customers will receive the rebate in the form of a debit card; upon receipt, customers may use the card as cash anywhere debit cards are accepted.

LG Vortex

The LG Vortex (LG Optimus One) will be also available in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online at www.verizonwireless.com on Nov. 18.

- Powered by Android 2.2 - Offers customers support for Google Mobile Services, including Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Voice and access to Android Market
- Preloaded with Bing Search and Bing Maps

- 3G Mobile HotSpot capable
- Virtual QWERTY keyboard with Swype technology installed
- Bluetooth 2.1 capabilities with support for Bluetooth Profiles Supported: Headset, Hands-Free, Dial-Up Networking, Object Push, Advanced Audio Distribution (stereo), Audio/Video Remote Control, Phone Book Access, and File Transfer
- microSD card slot with expandable memory up to 32 GB

The LG Vortex will be $79.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. Customers will receive the rebate in the form of a debit card; upon receipt, customers may use the card as cash anywhere debit cards are accepted.

LG Vortex customers will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan and an Email and Web for Smartphone plan. Nationwide Talk plans begin at $39.99 monthly access. Email and Web for Smartphone plans start at $15 monthly access for 150 MB.

LG Optimus One hits one million sales

In related news, LG today announced that worldwide sales of its Optimus One smartphone have hit one million units just 40 days after the phone's initial launch. The phone is now available in most of Europe, Asia-Pacific countries and the USA.

Powered by the Android 2.2 "Froyo" OS and optimized for Google Mobile Services, the LG Optimus One has been a big hit with first-time smartphone buyers looking for high performance and useful applications in a handset priced very competitively to feature phones.

The Optimus One also incorporates an LG-designed user-interface (UI) along with a camera that features face tracking and smile shot, a 3.2" wide HVGA screen and a long-lasting 1500mAh capacity battery.
