CMC Magnetics Certified For 6x BD-R DL Manufacturing


Taiwan-based maker of optical discs CMC Magnetics on September 13 announced it has obtained certification from the Blu-ray Disc (BD) Association for its 50GB single-sided double-layer (DL) BD-R discs for 6x recording.

CMC is the first Taiwanese maker to obtain the certification. The company has started volume production with monthly shipment volume to reach 150,000-200,000 discs beginning October 2010.

Imation/TDK, Moser Baer India, Verbatim (MKM) and Panasonic are already offering 6x BD-R discs.
