Sony Releases First 3D games For PS3 in Japan

Sony will release the first 3D game titles in Japan next week.

Japanese PS3 users will be able to download the games from the PlayStation Store for $8~$20. The first 3 titles are Mr. Pain, Star Strike HD and Wipeout HD. A 4th title, MotorStorm 2 will be 2D to 3D conversions, but fully original and native 3D games are expected to follow.

PS3 users in the States and elsewhere are also expected to hear news about Sony's PS3 3D game strategy in the following days, as the company will officially announce its U.S. 3D products (HDTVs, PS3 and Blu-ray players). A firmware update to the PS3 is expected to be released by the end of the the year that will allow Blu-ray 3D movie playback on the game system too.
