HP ENVY series

The thin, light HP ENVY 13 boasts designs such as an aluminum-magnesium casing and the HP Radiance LED widescreen display with edge-to-edge glass for high brightness, color gamut and viewing angle.

The HP Radiance display is twice as bright as other notebook displays in its class - 410 nit (a measurement of display brightness). With 82 percent color gamut (versus standard 45-60 percent), photos appear richer. The display's characteristics also include a 8-millisecond response time.

The ENVY 13 is less than an inch thin and its weight is 3.74 pounds.

With the optional Slim Fit Extended-Life Notebook Battery, the ENVY 13 gives users up to 18 hours of battery life.

ATI Switchable Graphics technology dynamically switches between ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 discrete graphics and the Intel integrated graphics processor for either high-powered graphics processing or low power consumption for long battery life without booting the notebook. The Intel Core 2 Duo processor provides the power of dual processor cores while delivering extended battery life when the notebook is unplugged.

The second member of HP's ENVY series, the ENVY 15, is the company's fastest consumer notebook.

Featuring a magnesium alloy casing, the ENVY 15 rovides lightweight durability in a 1-inch thin, 5.18-pound package.

It comes equipped with an Intel Core i7 processor and up to 16 gigabytes (GB) of DDR3 1,066-MHz system memory in four SODIMM memory slots. Storage options include the ability to add two solid-state drives in a RAID-0 configuration. Creative users will appreciate the ENVY 15 notebook's performance and full versions of Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 and Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 for creating photo and video content.

Power users and gamers can take advantage of premium graphics performance via ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4830 graphics with 1 GB of dedicated video memory.

HP ProBook 5310m

Designed for professionals, the HP ProBook 5310m is powered by the Intel Core 2 Duo SP9300 processor that provides all the power a user would expect with a full-performance PC, while still delivering up to seven hours of battery life with the standard lithium-polymer battery. An optional six-cell battery, expected to be available later this year, will further increase battery run time.

HP claims that the HP ProBook 5310m is "the world?s thinnest full-performance notebook," as it is just 0.9-inch thin and its weight is 3.7 pounds.

The notebook is also sporting a 13.3-inch diagonal LED high-definition (HD) display.

The HP ProBook 5310m is also flexible enough to scale down to meet the needs of all those who don't require a full-performance standard voltage notebook. When equipped with an Intel Celeron dual-core, ultra-low-voltage processor, the HP ProBook 5310m is an affordable step up from companion or netbook devices.

HP QuickWeb allows users to access the web in seconds when the notebook is shut down. The application resides outside the notebook's operating system, so there is no need to wait for the computer to boot up, users can simply push the dedicated button. In less than 20 seconds, users have a secure connection to the Internet and can access websites and content normally obtained through a standard browser. Additionally, HP QuickLook3 allows users to look up and respond to email, calendar and contacts without having to boot the notebook.

Integrated HP Mobile Broadband powered by Gobi allows users to access the Internet, company intranet, email, and mission-critical information in more places than ever before. The new HP Connection Manager 3.0 simplifies and automates connecting users with their preferred network.

The HP ProBook 5310m starts at $699 with an Intel Celeron dual core and $899 with Intel Core 2 Duo and is available immediately in the Asia-Pacific region with the Microsoft Vista operating system. The notebook is expected to be available for delivery in North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region on Oct. 22 with the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.
