Microsoft Security Essentials Beta Announced

Microsoft today released a beta version of the Microsoft Security Essentials (formerly known as Microsoft Morro) anti-malware software.

The free anti-malware software runs on 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP SP2 and higher, and on modern consumer form-factors such as netbooks.

Microsoft Security Essentials Beta provides protection against viruses and spyware, including Trojans, worms and other malicious software.

Updates and upgrades are automatic. It's easy to tell if you're protected ? when the Security Essentials icon is green, your status is good. Security Essentials runs quietly in the background, only alerting you if there's something you need to do.

This beta is available only to customers in the United States, Israel (English only), People's Republic of China (Simplified Chinese only) and Brazil (Brazilian Portuguese only). For additional information visit http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials
