Roxio Launches Media Protection Suite

Roxio introduced BackOnTrack 3, a suite of applications that provides a straightforward way to safeguard critical documents.

BackOnTrack uses a three-level protection strategy that includes instant system restoration in the event of a major system crash, disaster recovery in case of a lost or damaged hard drive, and automated data backup to secure important files such as treasured family photos, videos and financial records. BackOnTrack 3 Suite is available today directly from Roxio at http://www.roxio.com for $49.99.

Since 90% of PC issues are software related, BackOnTrack features a component called Instant Restore that enables consumers to go from a complete system failure or blue-screen crash to a fully functioning system in minutes. Instant Restore provides real-time protection from system corruption caused by viruses, rogue web sites or accidental user actions. Users are able to automatically recover their operating system and all installed applications to any previously saved state in a matter of minutes. Instant Restore is also an solution for laptop users as the restoration process requires no external storage, boot discs or a network connection.

Complementing Instant Restore is the Disaster Recovery component that provides added security in case the hard drive is physically damaged or stolen. Disaster Recovery allows users to save a complete copy of their hard drive to a disc or an external drive that can be stored separately and used in case of an emergency.

Completing the suite is a File Backup component that protects user's digital media against theft, damage, loss or accidental deletion. Consumers simply select files by category, such as photos, videos or music and copy them to any type of external storage device, including CD, DVD, Blu-ray and HD-DVD discs. For added flexibility, consumers can create their own custom category that includes a set of files they want to back up often and schedule incremental backups whenever it's the most convenient.
