Nero at CeBIT

Nero will showcase its latest products and developments at the CeBIT fair in Hanover, Germany (March 16-21).

My Nero Online Community

After a beta phase, Nero's My Nero online community will be launched at the end of March 2007 with a number of user enhancements, a graphical interface redesign, and new features including user multimedia weblogs.

More than 80,000 current My Nero members in 130 countries will be able to directly chat with other users, view the online or offline status of other users, register Nero products, and receive information about when new entries are published to bookmarked blogs.

My Nero is currently available in nine languages and provides users with the opportunity to access and organize their content with an online file explorer and upload video to personalized weblogs.

Nero's SecurDisc Adds Copy Protection Feature

The April update of the Nero 7 digital multimedia suite will include a new feature of SecurDisc technology. The copy protection feature is designed to prevent duplication of PDF documents saved on DVDs created with SecurDisc.

SecurDisc is a technology that offers a set of security related functions through a combined hardware/software solution and additionally offers encryption with password protection, digital signature, and higher data reliability through data storage redundancy and defect management.

LG has integrated SecurDisc hardware and software technology in the new LG Super Multi DVD Rewriter hard drive featuring premium security functions offering several features to protect discs at both user and storage levels. Consumers can easily identify SecurDisc-certified drives by the unique SecurDisc logo that will appear on each piece of certified hardware.

Nero Linux 3

Nero Linux 3 will be unveiled at CeBIT. The new version of the definitive burning application for Linux operating systems will feature Blu-ray and HD DVD data recording support as well as an improved graphical user interface that is similar to the look and feel of the current Nero Burning ROM 7 edition.

In addition to Blu-ray and HD DVD burning capabilities, Nero Linux 3 will also natively support 64-bit systems, as well as Unicode in all languages currently supported by Nero?s flagship product, Nero 7.

A beta version of Nero Linux 3 is expected to be available at the end of March 2007. Nero's OEM partners will be able to bundle Nero Linux 3 starting in mid-May 2007. Many Linux distributions will be supported in the new upgrade including Red Hat Enterprises, Fedora Core, SuSE, Debian, Ubuntu, Linspire, and Mandriva.

Nero 7 Update

The latest update of Nero 7 will include an array of technologies including Nero's own SecurDisc.

SecurDisc combines SecurDisc certified CD/DVD hardware and Nero's software applications. Users will be able to encrypt data on optical drive media using Nero Express, and will be able to read the data with the Nero InCD Reader, available free of charge on the SecurDisc web site at www.SecurDisc.net.

This Nero 7 update introduces the AVCHD playback and authoring solution. AVCHD, jointly developed by Sony and Panasonic, is a new High Definition digital video camera format that enables the recording of video in 1080i or 720p resolution on various storage media, including recordable DVD discs, hard disks, and SD and Memory Stick PRO memory cards. The AVCHD format uses the same MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video codec adopted in the AVC profiles of Nero?s Nero Digital A/V format.

AVCHD recordings can be played without modification in most set-top Blu-ray Disc players, PlayStation 3, and with Nero's AVCHD-enabled software player Nero ShowTime 3.

The Blu-ray Disc License Entity has certified Nero 7 for its support of BD-AV playback and authoring within Nero Vision and playback within Nero ShowTime. Both applications support Blu-ray in High Definition format up to 1080p in MPEG-2. Nero Vision lets users create editable BD-AV video discs on BD-RE and BD-R media, supports on-disc direct writing and editing, and supports the full disc capacity of single layer BD-RE and BD-R media up to 25 GB. Nero ShowTime plays back and navigates editable BD-RE and BD-R discs. With a plug-in available as an additional purchase, this updated version of Nero 7 supports HD DVD playback in Nero Vision and Nero ShowTime up to 1080p as well as high definition surround sound. The new update supports playback of all video codecs supported by HD DVD.

This downloadable update is available free of charge to current Nero 7 users at www.nero.com.

Nero's booth at CeBIT is located in Hall 2, Gallery, Room Wien.
