Sanyo DMX-CG65 Xacti 2.0

Sanyo introduced the new version of its high-resolution digital movie camera offering longer recording times and H.264 format support. The DMX-CG65 will be on sale in Japan late April.

One of the major improvements of the new camera is its newly developed LSI that allows quick image processing and the support of MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format, as well as 18MB of internal memory.

Also, audio recording can be done in high quality with 48 kHz sampling, 16-bit stereo sound utilizing the AAC compression standard.

Other features like 6 Megapixel CCD sensor, 5X optical zoom, 2.5 inch screen and VGA recording at 30 FPS (TV-SHQ 640?480/3Mbps). Through the high-speed image processing LSI it is possible to take pictures and movies in low-light/highly sensitive settings. The movies can be taken due to the 9 pixel-mixing technology incorporated in the camera. Using the "Lamp Mode" in the "Scene Select" menu, the frame rate will be automatically adjusted and low-light scenes of only 2 lux can still be filmed.

The DMX-CG65 can support SDHC cards upto 8GB and comes with a brand new image processing engine. The battery has enough juice for 70 minutes of video recording, 200 minutes of playback and 155 snaps, it can be charged via USB too. The camera will be available in three colors silver, black and the unusually bright green.

The Sanyo DMX-CG65 measures 67.7?34.5?100.3mm and weighs 170 grams. The camera goes on sale by late April in Japan for 50,000 Yen ($ 425).
